Call for Papers

Scope

In face of the emerging notion of seamless services and next generation networks (NGNs) driven by the convergence of the mobile Internet and fixed / mobile telecommunication networks, mobility aware technologies and middleware play an important role.

The aim of the workshop is to provide an opportunity for academic and industrial researchers and developers from the IT, Internet and telecommunications domains, as well as network operators and service providers, to discuss the advances in mobility aware technologies and their applications in the field of NGN.

The workshop will focus on new concepts, protocols and architectures as well as recent developments of mobility aware middleware, service delivery platform technologies and related applications within the fields of terminal, network and service provisioning and management, service control for multimedia services, policy-based service control and management, adaptable telecommunication systems and applications, programmable networks and devices / autonomic communications, ambient networks, intelligent appliances, smart end systems and smart environments.

Emphasis will be given to specific MATA aspects, such as security, interoperability, performance, context awareness, mobility and presence management, as well as new mobile application fields, business models and related topics.

Submissions Types

Only original papers related to the conference topics and not published elsewhere will be accepted. All paper submissions will be carefully reviewed by at least three experts and returned to the author(s) with comments to ensure the high quality of accepted papers.

The authors of accepted papers must guarantee that their paper will be presented at the conference. At least one author of each accepted paper must be duly registered for the conference in order for the paper to appear in the proceedings and be scheduled in the conference program.

Full Papers

Authors are invited to submit a full paper of up to ten (10) pages including figures, tables, references and annexes. The proceedings of the conference will be published by Springer-Verlag in the Lecture Notes on Computer Science (LNCS) series. A special issue featuring the best papers is planned as well.  Please refer to the Springer Verlag Authors' Instructions for detailed instructions on how to properly format your document.

Short Papers and Posters

Authors are invited to submit an extended abstract of maximum two (2) pages for a short paper and one page for a Poster.  Please refer to the Springer Verlag Authors' Instructions for detailed instructions on how to properly format your document.

Tutorials

Proposals for half-day technical tutorials related to MATA technologies or the use of these technologies in the above fields are solicited.

Paper Submission Process

Papers must be written in English and should follow the LNCS style as described in the template file available in both DOC (MS Word) format or PDF (Adobe Acrobat) format. The paper's cover page must include the following information:

  • Title of paper.
  • Authors’ names and affiliations.
  • Contact author's name and address (both postal and electronic).
  • A short abstract.
  • Keywords.
  • Type of submission (i.e. Full paper, Short paper or Poster).
  • Submission area from the list of relevant topics of interest.
Your paper must be submitted either in PDF (Adobe Acrobat) or DOC (MS Word) format. No other formats will be accepted. Your paper must be printable in order to be accepted.

MATA 2005 is using the JEMS Conference Management System to manage paper submissions process. In order to submit, you must first create an JEMS account. JEMS system will e-mail you your password. You need to login to JEMS using the password you have received by email. JEMS will provide you with submission homepage where you can register your paper submission and make appropriate changes. If you have problems with the system, please e-mail mata@congresbcu.com.

Note: The administrators of our Conference Management System have recently renamed their system name from EDAS to JEMS.  This does not change in any way the method of submission or website for submitting papers to the conference.  Rest assured that this change does not affect previously submitted papers nor does it change your login information.


How to use JEMS to submit your paper:

1. Create an account in the JEMS system at https://submissoes.sbc.org.br/mata2005
2. Login to JEMS using your username and password (sent via email).
3. Click on the "submit paper" image to submit a new paper, or select an existing submission to edit.
4. Fill in the detail of the paper. You will be required to provide information for co-authors not already registered with the system. Choose as many topics as apply to your paper. Choose the submit button to register you paper.
5. Upload your paper using the provided form. You may choose not to upload a file immediately. You may upload a new version of your file at any time (prior to submission deadline) by returning to the JEMS system. Once you login, a list of submitted papers will be made available. Click on the upload image to upload a new version of your paper.
6. After submission, reviews of your paper can be accessed from your submission list.


Camera Ready Paper Submission - due August 1, 2005

Once your paper is accepted for presentation at MATA 2005, following are the guidelines and pertinent information for camera ready paper submission.

As the author of an accepted paper, you will need to do the following:

1. Prepare a 10 page camera-ready version of the paper using exactly the formatting guidelines provided by Springer. Please click Springer Verlag Authors' Instructions.

Do not modify the formatting guidelines in any way. Papers that do not use the Springer style guides exactly will not be part of MATA 2005 proceedings.
 
Any papers longer than 10 pages will be charged a CND$40 fee per extra page. Please include payment with your author registration.
 
Papers must include a signed copyright form. The form can be faxed to the attention of MATA 2005 Secretariat at +1 (514) 340-4440 or mailed using the following address:

The camera ready version of the paper should be submitted electronically. A PDF version of the camera ready is required and a tar'ed/zip'ed directory of all of the source files should be sent to the MATA 2005 Organizing Chair, mata@congresbcu.com.

2. At least one author of an accepted paper must register.
3. The deadline for reception of the camera-ready paper, source files, and signed copyright form is August 1, 2005.
4. Author Registration deadline is August 1, 2005.
